Gran Canaria is a vulcanic island and is part of Canary Island Arcipelag situated in the NV of Africa Continent, in Atlantic Ocean. Its total surface is 1.560 km² and has aproximately 900.000 habitans.
The Canary Islands belongs to Spain, so that are part of the European Comunity; they use euro. Due to its low tax, some goods like cigarettes, alcohol, perfumes or electronics are cheaper in Canary Islands. Like gasoline for example, in mai 2016 was only 0,80 euro.
The Island is famous for its lovely temperatures during all the year, 22 degrees. They also call it the island of “eternal spring”. Gran Canaria is also considerate a minature continent thanks to its bio diversity, landscapes and micro climates.
Gran Canaria offer different landscapes and environment inside of its 50 km of diameter. Starting from the North, where is the capital, Las Palmas with about 400.000 habitans, sorrounded of green fields, through the center of the island with beautiful mountins (top Las Nieves 2000 mt) with pine forest, we reach the South, Maspalomas, with its fantastics beaches and dunes of sand.
BUS LINES AND TIMETABLES
The buses on the island (blue color) are managed by GLOBAL society and links one to each other the most of the cities. The costs are very accessible and rides very often; it is very used by the turists to/ from the airport or for the most of the cities. For example, the price of one way ticket from Puerto Mogan and Playa del Ingles is 4,15 euro. From Playa del Ingles to the Airport is 3,75 euro. You can pay the ticket directely to the driver.

The Gran Canaria offer high standard private hospitals. For the South, the emergecy is “Centro de Salud” (public structure) of Maspalomas Tel +34 (928) 721 096; in this structure you can receive free medical assistance, just show your European Sanitary Assurance from your country.
The “ Hospiten Clinica Roca” in San Agustin and “Hospital San Roque” in Maspalomas are high standard private hosptals. The medical services are payable or you must show a private insurance.
