Best places to visit in the north


Firgas is situated in the center of the Natural Parc of Monte Doramas inside of the archeological site. In the center of the city we can admire the mosaic of the fontaine and the waterfall brought from Sevilla. In August here the habitans celebrate the San Roque, the master of the city. Here is bottled the water sold all arround the Island


The city Teror is characterized by its white houses with wood balconies and its old historical center preserved. On 8th of September here is celebrating the Virgen del Pino, the master of Gran Canaria in the basilica situated on the main square. In Teror is produced the homonym mineral water.


Arucas, is famous for its Rum Factory (you can also visit it with guided tours) and is situated on the mountin Arucas, an ancient volcan. In the city you can also visit the cathedral San Juan Bautista and the Botanical Garden Jardin de la Marquesa


Las Palmas is the capital of the distrct and with its 400.000 habitans, is one of the most important city of the Canary Islands. It is a cosmopolitan city with a lot of shoping streets (Vegueta) the old center, and cultural like the Museum of Christofor Columbus. Very important is Sant’Anna’s Cathedral in Vegueta, the Canary Museum (where there is an exposition about the aborigean popolation of the island). Here you can find one of the most beautiful park of the island, Santa Catalina Park. Very famous, too, is the beach of Las Canteras for its length (where you can find a lot of bars and restaurants) and where you find the Auditorium Alfredo Kraus


The fishing village of Agaete is one of the most beautiful places in the northwest of Gran Canaria. Opened to the Atlantic Ocean, it offers its visitor a contrast of landscapes where the sea and its green valleys, which get to the centre of the island, make this municipality have one of the most beautiful countryside in the island. It also offers an excellent climate and nicely warm temperatures.
